For in the immediate world, everything is to be discerned… without either dissection into science, or digestion into art, but with the whole of consciousness, seeking to perceive it as it stands: so that the aspect of a street in sunlight can roar in the heart of itself as a symphony, perhaps as no symphony can: and all of consciousness is shifted… to the effort to perceive simply the cruel radiance of what is.

 James Agee

You don’t make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.

Ansel Adams

For in the immediate world, everything is to be discerned… without either dissection into science, or digestion into art, but with the whole of consciousness, seeking to perceive it as it stands: so that the aspect of a street in sunlight can roar in the heart of itself as a symphony, perhaps as no symphony…

Hello from the Black Hills. We are spending a week here with two of our grandchildren 10 and 11. The eyes they see the world through are sure different from what I see. Sometimes I envy them and their innocence. Great to hear from you. I am on my phone with its limitations but will look at the photos when we get home. Best wishes, Ray
